Hey there! My name is Katie Vigesaa.

I’m a registered dietitian, wife, and mom of 2 little girls. My faith in Jesus is the driving force behind everything I do.  I am also the creator of the Best You Plan (BYP), an online nutrition program I designed to re-wire the metabolism and mindset around food. Outside of that, I am a really big fan of good coffee (Dunn Bros. girl for life!) Fresh flowers are my love language, and I really don’t know how I truly lived before realizing eggs and bacon were part of a healthy diet. I hold my faith dear and I firmly believe God called me to do the work I do. My family and I live in a farmhouse in the middle of the prairie complete with a big garden, chickens, and way too many farm cats. Coming soon to the farm: cows, pigs, and a llama if my 5 year old has a say.

As women, we want to take care of our bodies through good nutrition and find something that actually works for our metabolism. Problem is, we don’t really know what that looks like or how to stay consistent. On top of that, we have a broken relationship with food. We think if we eat a cookie we are “bad” and if we eat a salad we are “good”. Sweet friend, food is amoral. It doesn’t get to dictate your worth.

I get what it’s like to struggle with your metabolism. I’ve actually wrestled with my metabolism since childhood.

Looking back, I think my stubborn metabolism has been a blessing — because it has helped me understand the science behind WHY the metabolism gets blocked and WHAT to do about it. My stubborn metabolism has allowed me to put together a plan to help YOU unstick yours ! But most importantly, allows your health to flourish

As a dietitian, I have worked in hospital settings as well as private practice settings. The majority of my dietitian experience has been providing individual nutrition counseling as well as teaching nutrition classes. I truly love the science of nutrition and my philosophy is “nutrition can help.” I believe with all of me that the proper eating plan can be incredibly balancing and healing to the body. So many of us walk around day to day not feeling our best. The right nutrition can change that.

As a woman who has struggled with her metabolism most of her life, I can relate to how it feels to be overweight on a very personal and emotional level. I understand what it’s like to be consumed with sugar and carbohydrate cravings. I deeply understand the frustration behind trying to do “all the right things” but still have a stuck and stubborn metabolism. So, with that, and my desire to help women feel their best, I set out to research and ask more questions. Long story short, the Best You Plan was born. The nutrition therapies in the Best You Plan are powerful. They have not only been helping me and changed my life, they have helped hundreds of women to date. So? What are you waiting for?? Since mid-November up until last weekend, we’ve Since mid-November up until last weekend, we’ve moved through heartache as loved ones have moved in and out of the hospital, to hospice, to heaven. We’ve lost not one, but two of our favorite people in life. My wonderful dad and sweet grandma joined Jesus in heaven. 

Frankly it felt weird and inauthentic to keep posting nutrition content when we just walked through such a big change. Until heaven, dad and grandma. We love and miss you here.

Have you been told to eat more fiber for gut healt Have you been told to eat more fiber for gut health only to feel bloated, uncomfortable, or experience other digestive symptoms? It’s not the food, it’s the bugs! (Gut bugs)

Bifidobacteria species living in the gut are the horsepower to digest fibers and long chain carbohydrates. The bifidobacteria is what helps you do the digestion. If you’ve always felt bloated eating certain foods that should otherwise be healthy, consider a couple things.
1. You likely need to increase your good bacteria (and just taking probiotics isn’t the full answer)
2. There’s an order of operations to getting your gut stronger and able to utilize fiber.

Here’s some more “how-to” when including app Here’s some more “how-to” when including apple peels to improve gut health. 
1. Start with 1/2 an apples worth of peel, as tolerated (meaning no extra digestive symptoms), work up to 3 peels worth in the mornings over a weeks time.
Do for 15-20 days.
2. Why? Akkermansia is a beneficial bacteria in the gut that can be hard to feed, but apple peels are a good food source. As it proliferates with feeding, it is part of cross-reactions to heal and seal the gut.
3. Can’t I just eat the whole apple? Well, sure, but since we are working up to 3 apple skins, better off just doing the skin since that’s what we are after (psst: save the apple flesh for applesauce or apple pies at thanksgiving!!)
4. If you have a very sensitive digestive system (bloat easily, don’t tolerate fibers, remember it’s not YOU that can’t tolerate fiber, it’s the bugs. You need more good bacteria to help you digest) - start very slow with the peels or find an apple peel powder
